Summer 2015 - Fall 2015

At Carnegie Mellon University I worked with the Human Computer Interaction research lab, Articulab, on a Mandarin iteration of project Alex , which only supported English and African American English at the time. Alex is a peer learning device in the form of a virtual animated child that creates an encouraging learning environment for children. My role was to translate and record all sentences to Chinese, animate and co-design a Chinese Alex, and operate the project at the World Economic Forum in Dalian, China that Fall. I collaborated with Dave Slebodnick, Samantha Finkelstein, and Anders Weinstein, and we were supervised by Dr. Justine Cassell, the Associate Dean for Technology Strategy and Impact in the School of Computer Science at CMU, who directs Articulab.
